And I mean that literally. This week friends Martha, Neil, and Lindsay invited me to their house to meet the new arrivals: four chicks, who will eventually join the egg-laying adult hens living in their Brooklyn backyard. The little guys were surprisingly entertaining – they mistook loose threads for worms (which apparently they also do with each others’ toes!!), and kept vying for position on Martha’s hand. Oh, and they already love to be photographed! Below you will also see the box they arrived in, courtesy of the U.S. Postal Service. This gives new meaning to not counting your eggs before they hatch… thankfully all made it safely. You can follow their progress (and worm obsession) on Martha’s blog, Brooklyn Feed.
